How do you when you've added too much oil?

I was just getting all prepped for tomorrow's West LA meet, and I topped off the oil (again! this was my 4th quart in 6500 miles hehe). Then I checked the dipstick and noticed I was right on the nose, oil right up to the top X. But... then I noticed a tiny tiny smidge of oil on the "H" above that.... and that has me a little bit worried!

How do I know if I've over-filled the oil? Thanks to anyone's feedback -- much appreciated!

Remember check both sides of the dipstick...if your just a "tiny tiny smidge" above the H you should be fine. no worries.

A bunch of 9K revs on your next couple of drives will bring the oil down a smidge!

Not to worry - a LITTLE over-filling isn't going to hurt. It's the quart or more that risks getting whipped by the crankshaft into a non-lubricating foam.

The manufacturers all realize that we'll never be perfect in adding only the exact right amount so some leeway is built-in...
