Default oil consumption

Well I notice that i'm burning oil (I'm new you seeb) and yes I know our cars tend to burn oil but mine's a little bit more than norm. I was thinking of the Supra PCV mod but is there a downside? I'm not running any boost. Oil catch can another choice? How can I reduce the oil consumption?

Thanks!

What oil are you running? When I ran Mobil 1 I burned 1qt in 3.5k, I'm running Pennzoil Platinum and at 7K have only burned about .25qt

on my last oil change i put mobil 1 5w30 5 quarts. I checked the level few hours later it was on "High" if i read right. Now it's below mid level and I've put only few miles on it. Maybe the 5 quarts didn't fill it up all the way?

^thats not a good indicator that you are using/losing oil

check your oil level on a flat/level surface after it has sat for at least an hour, drive around, do your days errands, etc, park it on a flat surface, let it sit for an hour, then check again

I wish that I lost as little oil as you

If you start driving the car AND THEN check the oil then the level will go down a bit because the oil is running through the engine so a little bit down is ok. I don't know about below mid-level tho...that sounds kinda low?

I don't think changing the PCV valve will do any help. If it does, then it'll only be excreting the excess blowby gasses coming from the car. I think you should do what the others said. Also, the right amount of engine oil is 5.5 liters of oil.

If you VTEC alot or track the car then that might affect the efficiency of the oil. Also, where are you located? I think your oil's viscosity might have something to do wit it too, but you should check first if you live in a tropical region or what not before changing the grade of oil.

Puting a different pcv valve in wont change anything if the oil is being "sucked" out. The point of a pcv valve is to enable the vacume in the manifold to pull vapor and fumes in the engine. It only closes if there is positive pressure in the intake manifold such as engine backfire or FI. A catchcan will stop the oil from being burned but you would still have to replace lost oil in the engine.
