Default How does this sound?

I've been looking for a white s2k for some time now. Over Christmas I found a y2k with only 7000 miles on it. The car was purchased by the owner of a Honda dealer in the south and has been garaged, under cover, and driven only in good weather. The car is in perfect contidion from what he tells me and what the pictures indicate. No TSB's have been required on this car. The vin # is very low, less than #150 for the first year and I plan on keeping my s2k for many years to come. I love the black/red interior (looks sharp) and was disappointed to see it dropped this year. The all red is a little over the top. Does $27,000 sound like a fair price. Maybe I can get him to buy a hard top for me at his price in order to seal the deal. How much are the hard tops now? I've seen that some posters have stated less than $2000. I'd love to hear your opinions.

That sounds like a "evenly fair" price for both parties. You might be able to do better, but you probably won't find one in better condition. The Red 00 s2000s with 25000 miles are going for $25000 or so. An extra $2k considering its condition and milage would probably be worth it.

The owner is aware of the TSB's, but has opted for the "if it ani't broke don't fix it" philsophy.

Sounds like a fair deal. TSB are only needed if you have the problem. All the S2000 clutches rattle, it's a character thing I guess. It's got 29000 miles of warranty left, plenty of time to get the TSBs done if you find them necessary. If the previous owner didn't have the grind then they either 1. didn't have it or 2. didn't push the car hard enough to know (a good sign). Do a carfax and check the title with the DMV of the state where it resides just to be sure (normal thing to do).

It depends on where you are. In the Northeast, you can now buy a brand-new 2001 for way under $30K.

Do you know of any brand new white 2001's for under 30k? I think I'd be inclined to go that route.

And it has to be white, too? Aren't we picky! Check out this thread:

No mentions of white ones, but it doesn't hurt to call and ask.
