How durable are these motors? Revving to 9k+?

The S2000 engine is definitely built tough. There are a small percentage of owners who've had serious engine trouble, TA dude, but there seems to be little correlation to engine speed -- unless we're talking about overrevving! That's another story, and it only happens if you blow a downshift.
That's one very strong reason to get a compression test with a used S. It's not guaranteed to locate an overrevved engine, but I'd bet it'd catch most of them.

For an Ap1, its 9,200 RPM, Ap2 its 1,000 less. And yes, a scenario like that. Lots of newbies do it.

I misshifted from 5th to 2nd, wanted to go to 4th. Rear tires locked up and I stepped on the clutch right quick. S2k still fine
