How fast can you make your S go?
someone on here IS putting like 500 to the ground...I think his handle is "Sideways" or "Slideways." Will take a TON of work, but its do-able. I think you will need the 2.5L stroker kit, with sleeves, then a MAD turbo and extremely aggressive engine management system. You can get a programable one that can switch from "Race" mode (extremely aggressive, to a more normal everday mode.
I think you will be looking at $30K+ for this (best guess).

if i wanted to drag i dont think i would buy ANYTHING japanese. just not made to do it. the supra is NOT a drag car. 13.x@133 mph is not impressive.

Seems a little silly to dump a TON of money into an S to make it that fast. You're talking Z06, porsche, etc. pricing. Might as well buy a different car and actually have a bit of resale left at the end.

100%I'm not going to argue thats its impossible as we have seen a few people achieve very high output with a lot of time and money. However the question is "why do want to do it?"
If you want to spend the time wrenching on your car, and have the bragging rights then by all means go for it. If you're just looking for a really fast car then you should go for the Z06 if you have the means. That car will be sick for sure, and should you decide to down the road you could modify it into something really nasty.

Hey,
Well, i talked to a couple of friends and I brought up that I might buy a ZO6 when I trade in the S and they were kinda against it. Cuz like I feel, the Vette is so played out, it's so not fresh anymore and there like zillions of them out there. Anyway, One of my customers just brought a 04' SRT-10 Viper and he let me drive it to lunch for a week while he was away. I was blown away with the 500hp, but the way it drove and the way I felt in the seat sucked. The heat from the engine is crazy hot. You drive it 30 miles you are almost empty on a 3/4 tank. The fit and finish is horrible. The worst of it is you have to open up the trunk then BY HAND put the top down
. 73k for that? I've drove everything under the sun except for ferrari's and I tell ya there is nothing in the world that drives like the S. From reading the posts I'm gonna most likley buy another S. One last thing about the Viper experience, how scary the power is. The rear is so loose that one little fraction of a mistake you are toast. The S on the other hand is like a go-cart. I guess you can't have everything, Unless Honda decides to make inline 6 with 350-400 hp and drop that baby into a totally redesigned S

I had a 944 Turbo that I significantly modded. It was a Beast.
But. . it was always difficult (understatement) to keep it running well.
I'd be inclined to go the Z06 route if your looking to make that kind of power and don't want to be continually adjusting things.
On the other hand, if you really have the time and inclination to tinker, then go for the S.

Who's buying the car, you or your friends? Who's driving the car, you or your friends? If you want to stick to the S (by no means a bad decision), my 2 cents would be to supercharge it if you want the extra oomph, put a little $ into exterior stuff, and drive your $40k with a smile on your face and another $40k in the bank.
You're looking at a lot of time, money, energy, and probably heartache to make an S competetive with the other cars you're discussing. By the time you're done with it, you'll have to tear it apart to resell it anyway and probably lose a lot of money in the process.
The reality is that you can't really "use" 500hp on the street anyway. Thats one of my favorite aspects of the S to begin with. Its fast enough to be fun, but slow enough that you can wring it out a bit without going triple the speed limit in the blink of an eye.
Anyway, I'm tapped out on this one. Have fun.

I pushed a car off a 1/4 mile high cliff once. ET was well under 10 seconds. I think I can reproduce this in the S2000. However, the car has never been the same since.
