Default How to: install killswitch?

I'm thinking about installing killswitch to further protect my prize love and joy. Anybody done it to their s2ks? I'm too scared to touch the s2k electronics if it happens to be too sensitive.

At first they were selling me alarm that I thought would have the kill switch, but then afterward I found out that there is no kill switch. So I got pissed and talked to them.

The alarm guy told me that they do NOT install the kill switch because they believe that the car will get kill in the middle of the road so that could be dangerous.

The part manager get furstrated when talking about a kill switch when there is no switch to flip. It integrateed automatic in the system. So they choose not to install it.

If you find any that good that I should have them install that kill switch then please tells.

many ways of installing a kill switch..

from easy to very hard

simple way would be pulling out the starter button and cutting a wire on the back of that.. install a switch in between it and run the switch to somewhere no one will know.. every time that switch is on the push start works

that way works but the person thats gonna steal it will know something is up

another way i like is running a switch in between the ignition wire and not mess with the starter wire .. that way when they try to start your car.. all it does is crank till it kills the battery.. than it really not going anywhere.. and the person stealing it will think that the car just wont start..

I like the first idea. The thought of killing the battery along with the anti-theft isn't fun when you are running late and need to start up your car. My friends installed killswitches without a problem (integra) in dying on the road from it but just looking to see if anyone has any thoughts on the s2k being installed with aftermarket electronics like that. I don't wanna risk anything to happen with my(our) baby

i rather have my car with a dead battery when in a rush than not have my car at all in a rush lol

besides.. they wont try to crank your car till your battery dies anyways.. they will just thing you car doesnt start and leave... if you lucky

but if you cut the wire behind the starter button, couldn't they just pull the button out and connect the 2 wires before you run it to some other part of the car? Because they might try to steal the starter button too along with the seats.

yeah, its all about layers of protection. there is no such thing a magical kill switch that keeps the car from being stolen. if you put a few switches in for different things, then you increase your protection with each one. i like the idea of the car being able to crank but not firing the ignition. ive never heard of that one before.

heres couple of ideas, i put alot of kill switches for local civic/teg guys.

fuel pump: idea is simple, but the switch needs to be out of reach during the "drive". a simple single pole switch will do(just make sure it's automotive grade)

ignition signal: more complex due to the location and wires.

(US car) clutch signal: easy one to slice, no clutch depressed signal=no start for the car. the same applies for brake signal for automatic. a very easy single pole switch will do. or if you perfer a cleaner job then relay.

the key for kill switch is to have it hidden or out of sight, there's couple of sweet spot in our car(for the sake of security, pm me for location). another way is to relay it to OEM switches, for example to the A/C switch or cruise or other already existing switches. Another way to trigger the kill switch is by a remote/alarm, i have a combination of these for both of my car.

one of cleanest kill switch job was done in miata.net, the dude rigged up the kill switch in his cig. lighter port, so you have to plug in the cig lighter to start the car just like a engine start switch we have. when you are leaving the car, just take the lighter with you and you'll have a open circuit. theives will not find any switches since it's out of sight. the cig. lighter is operational also, so it's totally reversable, clean and doesn't need any drilling/cutting or any extra hardware except wire or solder.

that's probably because of the wiring is poor, a property installed(and well sorted)kill switch will not affect something like that, tell me about it, i installed countless kill switch for honda's.

the only time it let me down was the time i forgot to release the kill switch and keep on cranking the car and it will not start . <insert a worried WTF is wrong with my car face here>

the fanciest one i seen was a friends buddies IS300 .. which in the center just below the shifter was a keypad.. you had to enter a code before starting the car.. thats awesome.. next would be install an finger print and eye scanner before starting the car..
