HOW LONG!
I'm with the peanut gallery on this one here. The second i clicked on this thread and saw the phrase "so my dad is being gay" i knew this thread was not going to end well, and with sufficient reason.
Honestly, at your age, a light RWD sports car that is known for being twitchy is a scary proposition. I'd consider something else for a first car.

Something tells me that if you got this car, youd wreck it racing the first civic that was "being gay" and revving at you.
You could very well be a good driver but if you think you have no room for improvement its going to leave you with plenty or room for error.

Yes it does. You don't need to be "dumbass" to get yourself into trouble with this car. C&D describes the driving dynamics of this car as "daringly neutral". Read some accident posts. You will find a pattern, of how their S ended up facing the opposite direction of the traffic flow. Some of them are pretty good and experienced drivers. VSA may not be essential for an Accord or a minivan. But it makes a huge difference, especially in this car.

As a father (of 2), and having a really great father to boot, I have to say this.
With only 2 years of driving under your belt, I would not buy you something like an s2k. If you want to buy it, fine. You get your own insurance, a job, and buy it yourself. You need help working on it? Sure I will be there. You need advise? I will gladly give you some. I'll even help you keep up with the maintenance. You want me to buy a 18 year old a sports car (assuming 2 years of driving makes you now 18 years old)? Nope, not going to happen. I do not care what your grades are. I will not buy you one. I will however entertain your desire for the car, and go test drive one with you.
This is what my father did FOR me. It makes me appreciate the things I have, because I worked for them, and no one paid a dime for them except myself. I now appreciate 4 cars and a nice house (all paid off btw) and am only in my early 30s.
I hope this does not come off as aggressive or spiteful, I am simply looking at this situation from your "gay" father's point of view. He is most likely trying to teach you something. Even if you don't realize it yet.

Hmm if u are asking about the life of the S. U really don't need to be buying this car. Do some research and get something like a older lude or teg learn about cars. Than save up and get something like a S you will than aprecate the car that much more and have the money to take care of it like it deserves. Now as long as you take care and keep up on maintance on the car they will last. I just bought a 92 toyota previa as my new DD. The previa has 187k miles on her and still drives strong.
