Engine oil in the F20C is at proper running temps approx. 15 mins. after you start the car.

A friend of mine had a oil temp sensor feeding a digital display on his turbo Miata and even on a warm day it took five miles of moderate driving before the oil was approaching temp (sorry, I have forgotten what the target temp was). This was also the case with another friends Ferrari that was equiped with an analog display for oil temp. Since then I have used the used this "five-mile" rule with all the cars I drive, rentals included.

Turbo cars will warm up the oil MUCH faster than normally aspirated cars. The oil feed line going through the turbo picks up a LOT of heat and brings it right back into the oil in the pan.

I didn't know it took that long to warm up. I normally drive until a little after 3 bars. It about 3 miles. I hope I didn't do anything bad to the motor. But a little after 3 bars I tend to prolong my shift. Shift around 4-5k before I want to VTEC

no one really emphasized this, but i'm sure most of us mean driving the car and shifting at around 3-4k to 'warm-up' the engine. NOT idling there until you reach 3 bars plus however many minutes before it's safe to vtec.

i usually idle for about 20-30sec max before driving off
