Default How to lower your s2000 for $0.00

I was cleaning the garage today and looked over at my 9 month old s2000....the fact that there seems to be so much gap between the wheel tire began to really bug me. I always asumed that it was because of the 16" rims but then remembered something I read about spring spacers not being removed by the dealer during prep.

So I thought what the hell, I'll check the shocks and see if those buggers would be there....and low and behold, I see 4-5 spacers attached to each front shock and 2 each on the rear. I quickly jacked the car up and removed them. I always figured that the exceptional hard ride was due to the s2000's tight suspension, little did I know that I was basically not experiencing ANY spring travel.

After loweing the car back down and driving around for the rest of the day, I relaized that an added benefit to the morw compliant ride was that the car now sits a little lower than before....eliminating a lot of the wheel gap I had.

Damn...makes me want to go out and check mine again. Although I did check after reading some stuff on this board, I wouldn't know the difference between good and bad on this issue.

I was proud of myself for being able to put the wheel locks on myself

And I thought you were going to say "How to lower your s2000 for $0.00... nails"... but spring spacers?! Haven't dealers had enough S2000's through their prep areas to know about the spacers?!

And we thought they know their shit .....

Just like the spark plugs, we thought Tochigi plant got everything right but there are just a few of those "oops" and we, the customer gets the "DOH!"

I hope mine isnt there .... is it something that traps between the coils?

another benefit I noticed this morning....

whenever I go over really uneven paement in the intersections, my foot no longer bounces on/off the accelerator which use to make my car look like it was convulsing down the road

I'm in shock.

I can't believe in 9 months that you have not visited the dealer at least once, and if the car was up on a lift - how they could have missed that is beyond my comprehension. I'm speechless, and that does not happen very often.

Enjoy your new "ride."

Although the car is 9 months old, I've only had it for 2; however it has been into the service shop once while uner my possession....the other 7 months it was owned by a 55 year old woman who must have not driven it much. This car was in perfect condition when I bought it from the Lexus dealership. Anyway, the lady traded it in for an SC430.....I guess she wanted a more luxurious ride.....now I know why.

When I picked up my car there was a good sized plastic card left inside reminding the dealer to remove the spring spacers, this must come with the car when shipped. I don't know how any respectable dealer could miss that. When I picked the car up I asked the sales guy if the spacers were removed, he said "yes" with no hesitation. I just may go out and look, just to make myself feel better.

Yes, I even asked for mine to make sure they were removed. But I did not count them!! found seven remained after 2000 miles.. thats where the pic of the spacer in the FAQ came from..
