How many computers are in our car?

(Aside from the ecu, the airbag system has a chip, the radio too...)
They do specify in the service manual that a digital multimeter used to check the airbag system should have an output of 10 mA or less to avoid accidental deployment.

Thanks for the input guys. I was told to ask where the computers are located by the shop that is doing the work. I was also told this by my father who is a Mac Tools dealer and sold the TIG to said shop. I am unfamiliar with the workings of the TIG. Just doing as instructed. Maybe they're being paranoid. Still, does anyone know how many computers there are and their locations?
Kinda depends on what you mean by "computer". A lot of stuff on this car has a "chip" in it.
The ECM (electronic control module or ECU, main computer) is behind the kick panel in the left footwell.
The EPS (electric power steering) control unit is tucked in between the battery and the fender wall.
And under the dash in the left footwell, you also have:
-Keyless door lock control unit.
-Cruise control unit.
The SRS unit is under the radio.
The converible top control unit is under the dash above the right side footwell.
There is also a low voltage sensing module just in front of the battery.
I think you should just disconnect the battery and keep your fingers crossed. From what others have posted here, you should be fine.

Thank you xviper. I will bring this list to my shop and go from there. I think they want to pull the computers for the sake of safety. They don't want to be held responsible for frying my car.
First off, I wouldn't want a WELDER of all people starting to yank connections to my car's brains. Second, if the only way they can safely do the job is to yank the connections, I would consider finding a new welder
I recently had a small hole in my exhaust welded at the exhaust shop. Before they began they connected a device to the terminals of the battery. Apparently this was to protect the ECU and other electronics from damage.
