Default How many left 'stock"

Ive read that there is less than 20,000 S2000 s that are untouched "stock" this was a recent quote taken from pass reg,and ins records. From what I see there was almost 67,000 sold in the us in ten yrs , can it really be true only 20 some thousand still remain factory fresh after just a few yrs out of production that is very hard for me to believe ,whats your thoughts/?

I could believe it. I guess it depends on what you define as "stock". I bought mine with a K&N intake. It is no longer stock. It is pretty easy to change that. Even putting on an aftermarket HU would change that status.

To be honest there is alot of little things that can be improved with a minor upgrade so that is why there are many "modified" S2000's.

Good point ...What is meant by stock is same wheels exhaust intake etc ...I don't think a diff air filter qualifies as non stock ..@ least to me it doesn't
I wonder how many are still left period stock or not ...be interesting to find out ...anyone have any idea ?

I'm going back to the Ins records and try to find out how many still are Reg and Ins in the US .

So even though I have a CDV delete, star specs, modifry stoft-top straps, and a k&n drop in I'm still stock?

I call complete BS on the number. Where are they asking if its stock or not? When I register my car I don't specify modifications, and I highly doubt insurance companies are sharing ALL their data on ALL their members with one another as to whether a vehicle is modified or not.

Agreed. But mine is a whole new intake. It has a cheap price tag and tons of appealing qualities to it. Like I said, it is very easy to change something about a car so that it differs from the way it came from the factory.

Most S2000's I see have something done to them, so I can believe the number.

I swapped out the stock radio for an aftermarket, tinted the windows and am putting Ap2V1's on my 03'. I would like to stay as stock as I can, but modding the car sure is tempting. I want to pick up coilovers but then I would lose that stock badge, which I feel the car deserves.

well from what I can tell there really aren't a lot of s2000's that are factory stock. I know mine is 100% stock. it took me 9 months to find one like this here in miami.

I agree ...what is the meaning of stock to an ins co?? I do however think the true "stock" S2k is becoming a rare car to find.I can return my car to stock in one day as i'm sure others can as well ...so the question becomes , How many have never been touched in anyway shape or form ...that number is becoming less and less everyday ...hence one day we may see "if we live long enough" the classic s2k and org for sale ...for ...my guess is it wont be cheap..my guess is in a short time the prices will start to skyrocket , only time can tell

I replaced my dampers when they wore out with Konis, and if every owner does something similar, no car is stock for long.
