There are no production Honda engines that I know of, that were manufactured since at least the 80's that have a lifespan of under 300K miles with normal maintenance and use.

Normal maintenance meaning regular fluid changes with good quality recommended fluids, and replacement of worn or trouble causing parts.

Normal use meaning normal road use.

You're the one using and maintaining it. So your end mileage will vary.

Its safe to say, though, at 83K, you're likely just at a very small portion of its useful life.

I'm going to guess this thread will never be revisited by the OP, however. And it will soon turn into a discussion about which $80/liter bottle of oil one should be using.

For an S2k, 83k is like the human equivalent of turning 30. I'm 32 and I feel great. My S2k has 69k and it feels great. Nothing to worry about.

Ok, so now maybe the thread will turn into, are you older than your car (in S2000 years)?

A lot! Somewhere between 40 and 50 track days, so probably about 6,000 miles.

40 - 50 track days won't come close to killing this motor. What happened? Just developed low compression one day?

Mines been tracked for 10 years. Its even seen 11-12K RPM. The head needed to be replaced a year after doing that because of valve seat issues. Original 16 year old longblock still. Perfect compression.

They're hard to kill.

My '03 currently has 353,000 miles. Original engine and tranny. The only engine work done was a valve adjustment.
