1. Use regular oil, not synthetic, during break-in.
2. When you first start it up, let it COMPLETELY warm up, not just kinda warm, all the way warm.
3. While it's still hot, check and see if the head needs to be retorqued.
4. Check the timing again, as well as the valve adjustment.
5. Very slowly and using the lowest rpms as possbile get to about 65mph. Put the car in 4th gear. The coast, in neutral, to about 30.
6. Go from 30 to 65, in 4th gear about 20 times. This allows the rings to seat, so do it right, and do it 20 times.
7. Drive EASY for about 250kms. Change the oil. Still just the regular oil.
8. Drive easy for another 250kms. Change the oil again. Still just the regular oil.
9. Drive it relatively easy (no trips to redline) for another 2500kms.
10. Change the oil again. Now you can use the expensive synthetics if you want to.
11. After that, the motor is pretty much broken in, so go run the dang thing to see how fast it is!!!!"

mainly, the 600 mark is when ALL the stuff will be broke in. eng, trans, clutch seated, diff wear patterns. car will be ready for full abuse. you wont hurt it to rail vtec before then, just dont shift it like an animal. and remember, it wont be real impressive until about 3k miles. after 1000 it starts gettin better, and your like, *it feels faster* then as you rail it day by day, it will get better and better. at 1k miles. put LE607 in the diff. you will love that. anyways. i could ramble all day. lates dave

WHAT!!!! You're not supposed to change the oil until 3,700 the first time. If you do you'll lose the specific break-in oil honda shipps in the engine and your rings won't seat properly.

Just check the oil and wait until 600 miles to vtech it. Try to vary the speed a little during that time. other than that you'll be fine. Most of all read the manual. IT tells you all about the break in period.

Yeah if you went to Fall Colors you would've gotten the low down on it. Mobil synthetic oil made for honda has special additive in it. Do a search you'll find all you need to know also road rage is the fluid expert here. He'll teach you a thing or two.

Here you go a link to the experts. That way newbies won't get bad advice.

People who know more about it than you or I, for sure.
