Default How many Pounds?

I was wondering if anyone knew the wieght of the following parts from the S on the list:
Hood
Doors-each
door windows
trunk
seats-each
center console
front bumper
rear bumper
rims
spare tire and tools
front rienforcement
rear rienforcement
dash
exhaust-I'm guessing something like 70lbs
header-I'm guessing around 30lbs
cat-Guessing this may be another 15lbs

I think that was everything I wanted to find out, can't remember if there was anything else. I'm only curious because I would like to see how much I can reduce wieght from each part, and estimate what kind of wieght savings I would receive from them.

Also include anything else you can think of that may be worth reducing, something to show nice wieght drops.
Thankx in advance.

Don't forget the carbon fiber hood prop.

Well if it helps, i think i remember my stock exhaust WITH cat weighed in around 65 lbs. (approx, cant remember exactly). Stock hood and trunk are actually pretty light though, some of the cheaper cf ones even weigh more than the stock ones.

??? on the rest of the stuff

AC unit would be the most obvious. Replacing the mirrors with a stationary carbon fiber type might lose a few pounds. Change the steering wheel gets rid of the airbag. Replace stock disk and calipers with stoptech kit should also be worth a pound or two on each corner. With all the stuff you're doing, don't need the cruise control. Stereo isn't listed, assume that's already been removed. Interor lights, pillar trim, windshield header trim. Seatbelt tensioners. Hood release latch and cable. How about the battery?

Isn't the T1-S/SSR Comp combination the lightest tire/wheel combination?

Depending on what you're doing, convertible top, head and taillight ass'y can also go.

Don't know what all this will gain you, what are you doing? most of what you've listed will have to be substituted by something lighter and probably more expensive.

There was an earlier post by some guy who got his car down to something like 2400lb.

Thats correct most of it will be substituted for lighter parts. I see people write "why do you want it lighter anyway, unless your going to track it regularly", well why not, my car will not be tracked regularly but doesn't mean I cannot make it a bit quicker by reducing wieght. Not all the things I listed will be replaced by lighter parts, I just wanted to see how much they wiegh because I don't really see any other way to get big wieght reduction except through those parts. A/c was a good suggestion as well, and the airbag steering wheel, didn't think about mirrors. Thankx for info.

I have a gutted S2000 with nothing other than a race seat, rollcage and hardtop.... weighs roughly 2425 with nearly no fuel...... I could reduce that by the weight of the rollcage weight but then have add back some kind of rollbar.... so maybe another 50lbs of savings..... plus another 20 in the doors (as long as I didn't mind getting killed if hit from the side).

I did leave my bumper beams in place and both doors still are stock with the door protector in place....

For a street car, the big easy things would be- lighter wheels and brake rotors, lighter exhaust and maybe lighter seats....that would save you 100lbs..... remove the spare and tools = ~50lbs?

Beyond that you losing very little weight for big $ (mirrors are $300+ to save about 3 lbs), or you are losing a part that you enjoy (the radio is a good thing to listen to.... a/c is nice for hot days)....

wow 2425 with the roll cage is awesome. I would like to get it atleast down to somewhere near that. True $300 for mirros just to save 3 lbs isn't worth it, but then again i've heard and seen people pay $250 for a new horn which saved them 1lb..lol..

I'm curious is the car pretty much stock other then the wieght reduction, or do you have FI? How's it feel with the -400lbs?

click my signature in the post above to see my car.... i race it in www.honda-challenge.com

No force injection allowed. You could not drive my car as a street car for more than about 10 seconds without a helmet on.

I would think for a street car with at least some rollover protection 2500lbs is about as light as you can go for a normal amount of $. after that carbon fiber costs big $. most people enjoy the radio and a/c, cruise, heat, etc.....

Goodluck........ get some 4.77 gears to make your car a little quicker too..... it spins more, but spins quicker.
