That engine is fairly heavy....you could replace it with a weedwacker engine and save several hundred pounds.

Sorry to give you a hard time, but the weight savings on some of these items seems rather rediculous.

I think the main idea of this list for the most part is to do some comparison shopping, i.e. looking into the product before buying it in terms of weight, why order something you THINK is lighter just to find out it actually is not ? And to give him a rough idea on where his car weights in at

For a street car I would do:
Spare and Tools ~50lb
Lightweight Battery ~15lb
Replace Exhaust system ~ could save like ~35-40lbs with a single exhaust
Passenger Seat if you never use it ~20lbs?
Passenger air bag could be removed too but I dunno how much that would save
Radio and Speakers ?lbs
Lightweight Wheels ~4lbs per wheel

If you had more money new brakes could save some too

click my signature in the post above to see my car.... i race it in www.honda-challenge.com

No force injection allowed. You could not drive my car as a street car for more than about 10 seconds without a helmet on.

I would think for a street car with at least some rollover protection 2500lbs is about as light as you can go for a normal amount of $. after that carbon fiber costs big $. most people enjoy the radio and a/c, cruise, heat, etc.....

Goodluck........ get some 4.77 gears to make your car a little quicker too..... it spins more, but spins quicker.
very nice, as far as looks go you got it exactly how I would want mine. Nice and clean. I could imagine it would be hard driving your car on the streets considering it's stripped. The noise in that thing must be unbearable. I'm think if I can drop it down to about 2500 and if I get it close to 230hp to the wheels then it would be a good balanced track car, and yet still be able to drive it on the streets. Ofcourse there is the option of FI, but I'm not thinking about that yet.

Great input so far everyone.

230 rwhp sounds like a lot for a NA mod s2000.

What engine mods are you planning?

You could probably get it with intake, headers, single exhaust, straight pipe, and a/c delete. Or ITB's

the weight difference is amazing. when we ran our car at 2200lbs with a stock engine and 4.77 gears...well, its a whole freaking lot faster and responsive that stock. now that we are turbocharged and about 2250lbs, well, its fast. weight reduction does help, but you are gonna have to get it down 100+lbs to really start to take notice.

oh...and the dry CF doors are the best to save weight on. you can go from 60lbs per side, to around 9lbs w/o windows. w/o the doors, its tough to get below the 2350 mark.

Do you have any video of the car in action? It sounds pretty amazing.
