How many street race with your S2000?
It's never planned, but sometimes I just can't resist the urge to put some other car in its place.
Just last Saturday I was minding my own business when the guy next to me in a CLK 320 took off a bit quick from the light. I didn't mean to race him, but when I floored it and he was still pulling away, I let it hit VTEC. I was really annoyed that I was only staying even with him until I shifted. Once in second gear the S2000 pulled ahead by about a length and we both backed off from there. (Still less than 20 mph over the posted limit.)
The best part was making a clean shift from 1st to 2nd at redline rather than grinding the gears.
That can be so embarrasing.
(Does leaving an RX-7 behind in the dust on the twisty section of Calaveras road count as street racing?
)

Don't deny some people the macho bit, from the very first caveman to run faster than his buddy to get the girl, hand down the genetic code, it's built into your system for good reason. True, maybe it doesn't apply as much anymore, but that doesn't mean it doesn't get the adrenaline kicking a bit to 'flex your muscle' (if even these days it's got nothing to do with muscle). He seems to be safe about it, and I'm sure he knows the risk he puts himself and others at. But everyone's got that side to them (I'm a bit of a street racer myself, watch out, here come the flames), and I don't blame em for it.

In just over a year that I've owned my S2000 there have been approximately four instances that could have been classified as "street racing". How is that being macho? Occasionally you just have to go for it.
If I wanted to drive slowly all the time, I would have bought a Chrysler Sebring JXi.

I have been behaving for a couple months...except for Saturday night.
I raced a...
Audi TT, already moving, victorious
Firebird, already moving, tailed him
MR2 Turbo, stoplight, victorious
I will try to behave...I promise.
