I'll sometimes reset it when I gas up and want to check my milage. Or if I'm starting a business trip where I will expense my miles. But that's all.

If you took car your car in for service and it came back with three bars, they probably did what they're supposed to; got the car up to normal operating temperature to make sure there were no fluid leaks...

Modifry does a nice little mod to remind you to shift, but it also has a "Valet" mode. In Valet mode, when the driver exceeds a RPM you set an alarm goes off. VERY LOUD!

Redline Shift Indicator

Highly recommended.
