I received a good quote on an extended service contract when I was shopping around. I called and left a message for the finance manager to call me after I decided to buy from them. He never returned my call. I tried calling him twice, and both times I was told he was with a customer. So I figured he was too busy too be bothered with my business and bought elsewhere for just $10 more.

I purchased a MY 03 nearly 3 months ago. I have read a lot of useful info on S2KI. Seems some owners have trouble getting Honda to honor warranty repairs. I had a 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty that I purchased for 1,600 American dollars. I am very concerned about service performed by a Honda dealership. Sooo many threads depicting the low quality of mechanical aptitude, that I do not trust the dealership. It is not just the dealerships, I am careful when choosing anyone to even as much as touch my car. I am highly capable of performing most routine service work myself as I enjoy knowing I did a job well done. As far as bruised knuckles, that's another story.

I cancelled my contract within 60 days of purchasing it. If something were to break that costs $$$$$, then I will hold them to the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. After that I am perfectly capable of maintaining my car myself. I just don't think that some of the personnel at the dealership are the coolest cats in the world.

Thanks Hardtopguy. I thought about calling you, but didn't.

RACER, I purchased my S2000 three years ago and did not buy an extended warranty at the time. Frankly, like you, I not usually in the market for them - in fact, this will be my first one ever! But, this car's a keeper and for only a couple hundred dollars each year, for the next four, I've got peace of mind - just in case. Afterall, that sweet engine I love so much is $8,000 to replace. Hopefully, I've wasted my money and my car will continue to perform as it has. And, for what it's worth, any Honda dealership must honor it - so you pick where you want service done. At this point I've got two in MI that I'd trust; but, the one in my hometown will never see it. Not all dealerships are the same.

Yes, it is transferable. Return to your dealer, complete the transfer of contract form provided by your dealer. You must pay $50.00 transfer fee payable to your dealer. Provide a complete copy of your maintenance records. Documentation evidencing change of ownership and odometer reading. This contract can only be transfered to a private owner within 15 days of change of vehicle ownership.

If your maintenance records are not available, American Honda may require inspection of the vehicle to assure that the vehicle has been properly maintained. If the inspection discloses abnormal conditions, the transfer may be denied.
