A few weeks ago, I purchased an 05 for $30,200 plus ttt. Additional OEM equipment that was included in the price:
Front Under Spoiler
Rear Trunk Wing
Honda Alarm with shock sensors
8 Disk CD Changer
Wheel Locks
When the dealership tried to stick it to me for the additional OEM accessories at "their" price, I simply used their computer and brought up the OEM accessories that I found online for a price that was considerably less. They couldn't argue with that. They also installed the parts as part of the cost.
A few things.... First, the "real" invoice is more like $29k. Second, the dealer gets 2% holdback on the listed MSRP of the vehicle (this applies to all Hondas). As such, there is room for more haggling that can be done. Third, the accessories at true cost only added up to about $1k. Fourth, I ordered my S so it did not cost them the daily fees by having a car sitting on the lot. Then throw on the $500. for delivery and the dealer absorbed their "dealer fee". The bottom line: $30,200 for the vehicle with add ons plus ttt. I purchased the 5yr/100k Honda Care after for the going rate which was about $1,500 (this is NOT included in the cost for the car).
This was my 8th Honda from this dealership, as such, a longtime relationship existed. I also didn't have any financing problems since the car was paid for in full. More so, I did my research thouroughly and I am not the type to take (or give) BS. Finally, most high volume dealerships are more willing to do what it takes to make a deal.
End note to PLYRS3...no, I don't have an S2000. (see below)

Whoa!! Please tell me how you were able to get all of those accessories included in a price already below invoice! That's $2500 worth of accessories, for free??
$hit for what you got you should've felt bad enough to give the dealer an extra $1,000. Nothing to hang you head over You kicked my negotiations! Mine had 13 miles on it two over 2.2 times the amount of miles on it than yours I should get a refund! Oh I did get the wheel locks for free too
That's a super-opened-ended question. There are a ton of variables that go into determining discount. They are
Market
Time of Month
Dealers Mood
Number they have in Stock
Color
Time of Year (Year Model Also)
Your Attitude
... the list goes on and on!
Generally I offer 500 over invoice. That gives the salesman a good commission and allows them to user holdback for operating costs. Of course, I'm the son of a car dealer so I tend to lean towards giving them a break.
Personally, I didn't pay that for mine, but... your price will depend on several, several factors. If you can only pay X dollars, walk in and make them an offer. The worst they can say is no!
