Don't do it. Put it in a box and have it shipped.

care to elaborate?

were not talking fragile parts that arent meant to take a 250lbs ass sitting on it and keep the occupant safe in a 80mph crash either.

Mine weighed 35lbs each.

Call your airline and find out their rules and charge for oversized luggage.
I work at an airport and each airline has different rules.

ok. thanks. thats well below the 50-60 lbs limit then. boxing it up shouldnt be an issue. theres a 62" LxWxH combined limit too. american airlines to be specific.

ive already made plans to fly to the east coast to visit family and will be nearby someone who is selling a pair of seats. ill have my cousin with me to check the other seat in as well.

just checking the feasibility of it and weighing (har_) it against shipping coast to coast.

PITA factor, mainly. Dealing with a big box at the airport.
