Default how much louder is the hks

i've done some searching and it seems like the consensus is that hks is one of the quieter exhausts. just how quiet is it compared to stock during daily drive scenarios. my s2k is a DD and i really dont like droning or anything too loud.

also i like to have my top down alot. will it be noticibly louder with the top down or will it be similar to stock if i am shifting around 3-4k rpm

With the top up, you can't really hear that nice burble/ rasp sound the exhaust has. You can definately hear that you've got an exhaust- it just sounds a little more "normal"... like an I4 w/exhaust.

On a volume scale, I'd say the HKS is about a 3, with the Fujitsubo being a 1 and the Veilside Teardrop being a 10. Also, a test pipe really makes the HKS shine.

Not sure about the testpipe...still considering that but I love the way the exhaust sounds right now with the catalytic converter. Just remember that with the top up especially, there's quite a bit of drone. It's not like the Invidia or something like that, but it's enough that you can seriously hear the exhaust when it's warmed up and everything.

I honestly think buying HKS was the best move I ever made, and I'm sure you'd be happy with it. It is very quiet when you first put it on, but it gets louder over the first few weeks. Good luck

my HKS with spoon test pipe = <3...seriosly though i had a t1r 70mm before and the HKS is much easier to live with every day...with the top down u realy get to hear the sound of the exhaust with th top up its more muffled but the drone isnt bad with test pipe.

There definitely is a difference with the top down and top up, and mine is a DD too. But with a test pipe, it sounds beautiful. Sometimes I think the HKS is a bit too loud with the top down, but I still have no complaints whatsoever.

Not to hijack this thread, but is the HKS the quietest exhaust (obviously other than stock)? I currently have an Invidia with the silencers in and it is way too loud for daily driving.

Are you running your stock cat or a testpipe? The drone is what will drive you crazy with Invidia... with the testpipe and silencers in, I sometimes forget I even have the exhaust.

No. That would be the Fujitsubo.

I took my first drive today with the top down and the HKS...it's a lot louder than I thought. Nothing crazy, and I would agree that it's on the quieter side compared to others...but I don't even have a testpipe and I think it's loud enough.

The tone is just amazing.
