Default How much is my S2k worth?

I bought it back in March 2003. 2001 Silverstone on Black w/ just about 36,000 miles. Great condition. KBB says 22,500 is that correct? Is that what I should ask? Bone stock.

I'd say thats a good starting point. Probably closer to 21,000.

I tried to trade in my s2000, it is an 02 with oem spoiler with 23k miles, a couple dealerships offered me,18,500 and 20,000 for it. Mines in excellent condition too.

Yours they will probably offer, from a dealership, like 15-16.

You know, the more I see threads like this regarding the value of our car's, the more I believe that our beloved S2000's would be holding so much more of their value if people weren't so desperate to get rid of them so quickly. People are so caught up in trying to have that next new ride that they accept the first offer they are thrown at as far as trade-in is concerned. I think if most people weren't so lazy and impatient, and were willing to take some extra time to sell the car and hold off for their asking price, then the used car market prices on our car wouldn't be plummeting as quickly as they are. If the collective of S2000 owners demanded more for their car then we would be getting more.

These comments were not directed at the creator of this thread nor the one's that have responded thus far. This is simply my opinion on a subject that bothers me. Before anyone says it, yes I know cars are supposed to depreciate; however, they only seem to depreciate at the rate that the people currently in the market permit.

15-16k that's horrible. Definetely not going to trade it in. I'm in no rush to sell either. Anyone who have sold their 01's recently want to chime in here? Not many on the for sale section.

I agree Greg. 15-16k is a ing joke and highway robbery if you ask me.

If you hold out for it, I don't see you having any trouble finding a buyer at 21-22k. Good luck with the sale.

I bought a certified 2001 back in August. Stock plus rear and front spoilers. MY01 had 30,500 miles at purchase. I paid $24,500 to dealership.

I think based on your miles you should ask 23,500. I just saw a ad for a 2001 with 36K miles (spa yellow) no spoilers selling privately for $25,000 (figure the individual will knock off $1,500) upon negotiation.

I wouldn't go much below that.

Honda606, I agree, I am in no way desperate to get rid of it, just wanted to make sure I am not going to be asking to much or to little. Figured this would be the place to do so. Hell, theres good weather coming in the next few months, so I may keep it until then, who knows.

Alexz, I take it that 01 is for sale in CA. Correct me if i'm wrong but, prices fluctuate depending on the area in which the cars being sold. Someone could prob. get more in CA than I can in SC. Again, correct me if i'm wrong.

Greg,

I was just thinking about it as I did not notice your location before hand; but, you might be able to get much closer to your desired asking price if you were to list your car on autotrader with say an Atlanta zip code. I drove over to the ATL from Houston back in September to visit some friends and while I was there I would scan the newspaper daily to compare the used prices to the one's in Houston. They were considerably higher. Granted, I have no idea if they were able to sell their car's for that much but the asking prices were better. I think it would be worth a shot for you to consider trying this. If you do, use zip code 30076 as your starting point. It is the zip code I use to live in during my stay in Georgia and is dedicated to the north side of town around the Roswell and Alpharetta area where I think you will find buyer's that are willing to pay a little more.

Just an idea I thought I would throw out.
