Hey guys what does a new s2k motor go for, who has them the cheapest

dealers are really the only way to go, and the price is high but varies from dealer to dealer, a dealer near me has the following prices:

SHORT BLOCK, S2000 - 2.0L, 2.2L 00-03 $2,076.76
CYL HD S2000 - 2.0L, 2.2L 00-03 $2,422.58

I've seen a few low mileage AP2 motors on eBay and it looked like the motor and transmission went for a little under $4K. Haven't seen any AP1s. Good luck.

 

i got mine for 3k. It had 18k on it. The dealer wanted me to pay +5k for another one

 

I would expect to pay rougly $6k out the door unless you are doing the work yourself.
