How much should I pay for this car?
I think 19k is reasonable, though it may be hard to get them to move that much.
If this color combo is really that important, check it out thoroughly, as you've said, and then go for it. If you can go for another color, there are many many low mileage S's out there. 40k may not sound like that much to you, but if you put on 12k a year, your car will have 66k in 3 years, 100k in 5 years. You could get a lot more life out of the car (maybe 3 more years) by getting one with only 10k on it now. Of course if you dont want to keep it that long, this doesn't really matter.

Then again, the last time Josh got a "certified" Honda...
Like others...I feel the price is too high. I like your idea of talking them down to $19K.
Keep us updated.
Josh,
Get all your finance line up first and then do some research of the car(ie. Carfax) and give them an offer below 20k.
First of all, 40k seems high. I have a 2002, drive it as often as I can. I have 20k on my S.

Josh, If the car checks out , offer them 19 but be ready to pay 20K plus TTL. But I wouldn't pay over 20 since it's been sitting on their lot and they keep calling you. You KNOW they are ready to deal. The other post is probably right, they only have 17 in it, if that much.
BTW, did you verify that your old loan got paid off? I have been waiting to hear what your idea was you couldn't share before you settled with the dealership. How about it?

And my idea was to contact the Dallas Morning News and tv stations. The DMN said they don't want to write a report since it's all been settled. But I have been contacted by TxDot and BBB who want to further investigate what happened to me.

Josh, is that bankston nissan on 75? If so than let me know because my friend works there and he should be able to dig up some dirt on that car.
On a side note, I ran a carfax report and the car came back clean and with 1 previous owner. I am going to ask some background info on the previous owner tmw when I go in to drive the car. I heard that because it is public record the dealership can give you info about the previous owner like age, location, etc. Anyone know if this is true?
Josh
