Default how much weight are you really saving

our factory hood is aluminum which is already really lightweight. how much weight are you actually saving by switching to a cf hood? has anyone weighed these?

You don't save much. But, the vented ones can help improve heat dissipation.

cf hoods are all pretty much for looks, tru some heat dissapation and weight savings but all in all just looks...the stock hood is REALLY light. u might save a couple lbs if ur really that hardcore...which some of us are tho =D

Yeah, you can push on it to close it and don't have to worry about denting.

It still chips and scratches, though.

I have mine for looks and cooling - I think the cooling aspect is rather significant, actually.

you could tap dance on a real carbon fiber hood and not have to worry about a thing. real carbon fiber doesn't dent, it shatters. but then again most cf hoods are just fiberglass cores with a layer of carbon fiber weave on top covered with resin. not very strong, but then again, unless you have people walking on the hood of your car, i wouldn't sweat it.

i figured there would be negligible weight loss from switching to a cf hood.

probably not as significant as switching to a bigger/better radiator.

Which unfortunately wouldn't do anything for intake temps...
