Default how much would it cost...

so my car jus got keyed and insurance is paying to repaint the exterior but i wanted to get an estimate about how much it would cost to repaint to engine bay since i dont want the car looking weird. i kno it'll prolly cost a lot since they gotta strip out the engine bay to do it. i'd go ask a shop but its sunday and im anxious to know so i can plan ahead. thanks guys.

*mods sorry if i posted in wrong section, didnt kno where to post it*

if the insurance company is planning to have your car repainted the same color, how would that make the car look "weird"?

if i choose to repaint the car a different color, like imola orange i dont really want a red engine bay or door jams. im jus a little anal about it, personally thinks it looks weird when the engine bay or door jams is a different color from the rest of the car

oh, okay. didn't know you wanted to paint the car a totally different color. in that case, yeah...make sure the engine bay matches. i'm not totally sure what the cost of repainting the engine bay would be, but expect $2-4k extra on top of repainting the exterior. i guess it'll really depend on where you're getting your work done.

but just a heads up...you'll probably have a much harder time selling the s2k if/when you do decide to get rid of it; whether it be selling privately or taking a big loss trading it in. if you don't plan on keeping the car forever, i see as a waste of time and money. that's just my opinion. good luck and keep us posted.

to be honest it's too much work for what it is, it would cost 500 more to shoot the bay, that's with all the shebang in it out of the bay.

the labor of all the wire/line motor, trans removed will run you a grand plus and minus a tad.

if i am buying a used repainted s2k, i rather have one without a painted bay, because simply knowing the motor and trans has not be altered with.

that's just me tho, i don't enter car show and stuff like that.

good luck and good choice on Imola orange, i know that's my colour when i am doing a respray.

repainting the valve cover and repainting the whole engine bay are two totally different things. i think there's some misunderstanding between the two of you.
