Do what I did. Remove the front bumper, remove the impact beam behind it (and the foam). Replace it with a full width dual tube beam shaped to match the exact inside curvature of the bumper cover and which runs the full width of the car.

Now, instead of some dumbass crumpling up your plastic cover they will get a taste of steel. Also, since the beam runs tight up to the cover it won't dent and because it's full width it will protect you across the entire front.

It's also good for ramming people off the road

Man, all you need now are those spinning spikes that protrude from the wheels to cut other driver's tires

get a garage! i avoid parking on side streets as much as possible...and since i'm in the city, it's usually easiest to cab it or take the train.

what about safety? Will this inhibit the cars safety systems in anyway?

It should because I got heat from body shop when installed bumper my self, the car ment to crumble to absorb the impact. Even missing foam in between the bumper and platick bumper cover will make a dramatic differance and I didn't bother installing one. My friend who owns the body shop gave me heat for it.

I probably wouldn't own a nice car if I lived in a city like boston and could only have one car. More headache than it's worth.

You can buy ScotchCal paint protectant (clear bra material) in different thicknesses. I'd layer strips of the 4mm thick paint protection so that you can peel off the outer layers as they get destroyed.

Always park between two Lexus G460's.
It doesn't matter what cars you park between. If it's on a NYC street, it will get hit somehow. Even at a municipal parking lot where parallel parking is not needed, people still manage to park so close to each other that door dings are inevitable. Just a month ago before I traded in my celica, I sat in my car waiting for someone at a municipal parking lot, this lady pulls up in the spot next to mine while there were 15 other vacant ones, she pushes her door open right into my car! I looked at her in amazement because she gave me a look as to nothing happened. I hate NYC.

glad i have a company vehicle for work in washington DC. Its the same thing there. People really dont care, its a fast paced environment and people pay no mind to others property. It doesnt matter what you park beside, a lexus, bmw etc. If you look at those, brand new with 30 day tags, they have knicks as well on the bumpers. Get a beater man, an old civic or somthn.
