how to prevent latch from tearing soft top?

Default how to prevent latch from tearing soft top?

does anybody know how to prevent the latch from tearing the soft top as shown? i know the modfry straps would help it but any other ways?

Well I had a hole that was popped into both sides of the top with the latches. I went to a shop and they put a patch there and fixed the small hole. 2 years later still looks great and the patch is still on. I think it cost $30.

closing the latches after you un latch the top seems to help.

^ I always closed my latches every time otherwise they rattle like hell. Even then because of the bar not folding back the latches caught the top and popped a hole in it. So just need a patch on both sides and fix the hole.

^that's why i always re-latch my latches, and make sure that bar goes back everytime.

this happens because the BAR is not going down properly. I have a punture there as well. I've cut a little piece of the top from the inside and glued that bitch on...it's been fine ever since. when lowering your top make sure the bar goes down properly.

Yea I always make sure that damn bar goes back now by pushing it on my own. Before I knew the bar wasn't going back on its own that's when the stupid holes came in.

i've read that even re-latching it when u put the top down will still damage the top.
