how to prevent latch from tearing soft top?

i noticed wear marks so i put patching on the inside. i wondered if it would be sensible to sand down the sharp edges of the latches and other parts of the frame...

I checked my car yesterday and I am happy to report that I see no wear in that area. I wonder what might be causing it for some of you? I guess the patch idea should work.

My how to here for DIY replacement of elastic straps - stretched ones can cause damage to the hood from the catches.

I just noticed yours is a 2009! You shouldn't be getting these problems.

not trying to sound retarded, but can you guys ellaborate more on this issue of the bar not going down all of the way? My car is in storage so I can't really check it out to see what you guys are talking about, I just want to make sure I pay attention to this in the summer.

That is on an 09? Wow. My 07 I always close the latches and I don't even have wear marks there. Good luck with it but since it is just starting you could get a self adhesive patch for the inside.

oh no no, yah i've got an 09 but it hasn't happend on my top yet so i just want to prevent it from happening. i already have sub woofer carpet on the hinges for the passenger side above the right shoulder. i just wanna do everything i can to prevent rips in my top.

u should be able to get the sub woofer carpet at any custom audio shops. i'm not sure about that black patch as Shopman was the one that came up with it, i didn't put that patch on my top, just the sub woofer carpet.
