Default How to properly break in a new S2000?

I tried the search and looked for it at the FAQ and library but can't find the answer. Can anyone post me a link? or give information? Thanks.

I bought my S2000 4 weeks ago, and I found this site helpful.

I'm sure that the ideas and techniques presented on this site are controversial , but they seem well reasoned .

I broke my bit** in using the mototuneusa method. I just hit 600 miles last night, but I had already hit redline and/or the rev limiter probably a 150 times or so before 600 miles.

Checked the oil level this morning and it's right at the top level of the dip stick, just as it was 600 miles ago.

Easy break-in, whatever...

i drove the car easy within the first 5-600 miles. i figure that should be proper for breaking it in.

I broke mine in exactly following the manufactures instructions, I have no detectable oil loss between changes (every 3700-4000 miles)

the new f22's have revised engine components that really cutdown on oil consumption it doesn't really have to do with the way you broke in your motor.

btw for any motor, engine compression braking helps a lot as the high pressure helps seat the rings at a quicker rate.

*SIGH* why did I know this article was going to be brought up. Long and short it is completely unsubstantiated, poorly reasoned and unscientific results, you should not trust them. If you break-in using this technique you are taking a foolish risk that CAN grenade your engine. Two engine's have been blown that I know of that have been attributed to failing to properly break-in. If you break-in with this technique and the dealer where to find out they could deny warranty claims for engine work. Is it really worth that risk for little to no gain? That's up to you to decide......

Prior discussion....

one point of advice. leave the factory oil in for a good 5000 miles. don't go to synthetic oil until AFTER 7500-10,000 miles.
