Default How rare are OEM Hardtops?

Any clue what the ratio is for hardtops to cars? Very very few are sold with the car at time of purchase and i know locally where i'm at only 2-3 of us have them out of 20.

any ideas?? just for fun

also, my hardtop has a vin number on it. does that mean it was made specifically for a car. it was Spa

from further down

Mine has a tag on the inside in the very back in the middle that says

s2000
desined specifically for vin # 1t003876

who's car is this? it was a Spa hardtop so it'll be a Spa Ap1

I don't know but a VIN on the top is a surprise. I think possibly this # was applied to the top as a means of 1dentifaction in case of loss due to theft.

Good question. I think mine came with the car. The guy who owned it before me had it since new...and i think in 2001 Honda had a package with the OEM roof on the Spa.

There was a GT option in Europe that included a hardtop. In fact, there may be nothing else different except for that. I'd bet that in cases like this, there may be a VIN. I'm not sure about Canada though.

Found this posted by xviper a long time ago

"The VIN plate came in a plastic bag and was available only to US customers (I whined about it and they made one for me in Canada). The instructions says to stick it dead center at the bottom of the rear window frame. The harness with the plug for the rear defroster should be in one of the box of "goodies" that comes with the top (along with other internal trim pieces and hardware)."

interesting. I wondering the CR has a VIN on the HT. Those were one of the things I was looking for when I bought the CR brand new. I realized it was a factory "optional", assuming it doesn't require a VIN.
