How to REALLY look stupid while Driving an S2000.
On my first test drive of an S2000 at Carmax the salesman was telling me how well it cornered, and how I'd get the chance to take a sharp right turn a little down the road. So, here comes that right turn...let off the gas, going about 20MPH too fast, slid into a nice 180...salesman's face turns bright red, I shit my pants, regroup, and off we go back to the dealership
i live in a country that rain a lot and pour a lot, so, what can i do instead the hardtop, i've never been in rain, cause is not the season but soon, what can i do?, I thought spraying scotchgard protector in the top, but i don't think that can help in a hard rain
When my car shipped from MA (to CA) I had to take it to the DMV for inspection. In the parking lot, I was confronted by an IDIOT in a Neon who was driving the wrong way down the one-way parking lot aisle which I had entered. I stopped, slipped the car into reverse to get out of her way, looked in the rear-view mirror and then began backing up. Just then I heard someone yell a 'whoa!', and stopped immediately. Turns out there was an old guy crossing about 2' behind me. I couldn't see him 'cause of the massive blind spot (the '02 I have is even worse than the '01".
Of course, the line of people outside the DMV who formed the audience to this incident weren't very impressed. It's a good thing the S2000 doesn't have much torque--or I would have been backing up a lot faster...
As for the comment on the gas tank--there is one car that has embarassed more people (including me) than the S2000 has: The VW-Porsche 914. The filler is actually in the front trunk. Try finding a 25+ year old car that includes instructions!

Finding the gas cover release button is something your sales person should have shown you during the orientation of your new/used vehicle(pp sales excluded). My sales person spent about 20 minutes with me pointing out switches, lights etc....If that never happened with some of you then the sales person did not complete his/her job and should be noted if asked to fill out a comment card.

Went to the dealer and he took one look and switched the toggle above the driver side window buttons over to the other side.

One day after filling up, I noticed something really weird about my speedometer. It was reading 10 when I was crawling along. And I made it well past 125 on the 1/4 mile. I drove like this for a week or two, fortunately I knew how fast I was going because of what gear I was in and what the RPM was. I took it into Honda to see what the problem was. They were baffled too! So finally they called North American Honda Headquarters to see what's wrong. Turns out I had hit the MPH/KMH button when reseting the trip odometer. I left feeling stupid, but glad since I wasn't the only one who was baffled by my speedo. FYI, I haven't taken the car back to that dealership since.
Vicbrasil,
Tell your son He's not the only one who could'nt find the reverse. I actually got out and pushed it to turn it around. Pretty funny looking.
I flipped open the manual when I got home (Had to find the secret campartment first).
