Default How to remove left over sticky stuff from weights on wheels?

I just got my wheels balanced and they had to remove the old weights and now there is crap left over. I tried using soapy water, wd40, fingernails but only seem to get a little bit off. Is there anything I can use to remove it easily?

I would recommend any type of bug & tar remover. The best I have tried so far is a product called Stoner Tarminator. Works excellent!!!

I keep an aerosol can of starting fluid (ether) around just for removing adhesives from labels, etc. Works great. Just don't smoke when doing it!

Would lighter fluid do the same thing?

Tarminator or Xenit, both from Stoner.

Forgive me for the newb question seeing as though I have been here for awhile. After doing a search on wheel weights I came away uninformed as to their purpose. What exactly are they on the wheels for? I read about them in the manual and still can't understand what they do.

They're used to balance the wheel/tire combination while being rotated, i.e., at speed. This greatly reduces vibrations felt as a result of unbalanced things spinning at highway speeds.
