Default How to repair my dash

OK, well I made, actually my friend made a rather large error today when installing a new HU. We should never of had that sodering iron in the car....

So to make a long story endless we ended up putting...rather burning a hole in the the dash. The hole isn't too bad, it is rather small actually but I know where it is and it is also basically in the middle of the dash just above the radio towards the middle part of the dash.

Does anyone have any idea how I could fix it? I am starting to think my options are to live with it or replace the entire dash. But before I decide on either of those options I figured I should ask around here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have seen this type of problem repaired. A local owner bruned a hole with a cigar just above the radio. It was the size of a quarter. He got it fixed and you could never tell. Talk to a collision shop, or look in the phone book for Vinyl repair.

I don't have any pics at the current time. I am going to look into a couple of different options. The hole is no bigger than the size of a point on a pen. Hopefully I can repair it. The cigar story gives me hope.

It can easilly be repaired, don't worry about it, Stratocaster is correct, take it to a vinyl repair shop. I've had mine repaired a few times now after dumb mistakes.

Yeah, I contacted Dr Vinyl who is going to fix it for me. Seems this type of thing happens all the time. I am feeling much better now. Granted I still feel like a moron for having the iron in the car but live and learn. Thanks everyone.

What about sun damage? I hated to use Armor All, but ended up leaving the dash unprotected.

Just an FYI, Dr Vinyl came out and fixed the dash, it really looks like nothing ever happened. If I look real close and search for the spot I can sometimes find it depending on the light, but is not the case very often. I woudl definitely recommend them.

Now something a bit interesting. I have always used Armor All on my dash and other non-leather areas. The guy that fixed my dash told me that it Armor All will actually damage the dash after time. It is a sylicon based product and actually dries out the area after time. He suggested using something called lexol. I haven't checked it yet but I think I will be switching to something else.
