How are the seats for long drives?

Yow, I'm trying to decide if you're lucky or unlucky...lotsa wrecks, but at least you're still here
.I personally have done several 10-13 hour drives (Florida to Maine, rt), quite comfortably. Due to my somewhat bony ass, the backside does start to bug me eventually, but stops for food or gas are enough to assuage that problem most of the time. No back problems here.

(Of course in the latter case, the 13.2 gallon gas tank would mandate rather frequent stops anyway...)

I've had my S2000 for a little over a year and a half now. I bought it because my 100 mile daily commute was getting boring after 5 years and I needed a little more excitement. For me, it makes my an excellent daily driver. The seats are comfortable and provide enough support. I have also done a 1200 mile trip from Houston to Asheville in 12.5 hours without any problems. The adrenalin may have played a slight role in hiding any discomfort.

I've put 53k miles in my S and I have no regrets. It makes a fine daily driver.
Bill,
I think that seat comfort is probably directly realted to one's particular body proportions. The seats a likely designed for the average individual. For example the Miller Co., the manufacturer of my inline skate boots, measured 1 million feet both left and right and designed their heat moldable boots to fit something like 90% of the wearers with the other 10% needing to heat mold (as in heat in an oven or with a heat gun) the boots directly to each foot. I am 5'10" and have driven the car up to 2 hours without a break on 4 lane roads and have had no problems. But I am of average build. Since the lumbar support is not adjustable
, I assume that shorter and especially taller drivers might have a problem with the lower back. I would advise you to go to a dealer and sit in the car for maybe 10 to 15 minutes, close your eyes and try to concentrate on how the seat feels and how the lumbar support meets your lower back.

I just drove my s2000 from Chicago to Los Angeles a few days ago. It took me 3 days and I drove 18.5 hours on the last day. I would say that it gets a little uncomfortable at first but, you adjust really easily. It would feel uncomfortable with any car just sitting there for that many hours. I suggest that the most comfortable position is to put the car in cruise control and take off your shoes. This way you can stretch your legs all the way behind the brake pedals.
Long distance driving?
Drove from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Then continued on down to 4 hours south of San Fran, CA. Wasn't uncomfortable, got out to fill up or to stop for food/hotels. Spent up to 14 hours a day in the car and loved virtually every minute of it. Even the long haul through the prairies following a RCMP car at the speed limit.
I did cheat a bit for lumbar support - used a recycled airline pillow.
And I am closer to 40 than 30 years old, so it ain't age and flexibility making it comfy!

I drove from New Orleans to Harrisburg PA in 18 hours and 7 stops (my wife was feeling sick). If you do the math, it's 65 MPH average, even including those 7 meal & rest area stops and through Knoxville at practically a standstill at rush hour.
I remember it was in the 92 Civic EX. Got 36 MPG even though I had the cruise control set at 95 through 2 states (with the sunroof open, watching for helicopters!)
Can't remember anything hurting when I got home... except maybe my eyelids!

I just drove my car back from Virginia(where I bought it) to Colorado and I drove the whole thing straight through. It took me 28 hours. I'm 6'4" and it was pretty uncomfortable. I just made sure to move around when I stopped and I didn't eat in the car, I went inside and sat down. I recovered after a few days
