Default How to tell if hardtop is OEM

Besides it being aluminum ( which is hard to tell by tapping on it) is there any other things u would look for? I picked up an "oem" hardtop that has every thing included. Honda glass, headliner, catchers, latches, spikes and defroster harness. I just don't see it fitting like the one that got stolen from me did. The prt where it is suppose to be 8mm by the top and rear quarter panel has a bigger gap. Is there any way I should adjust it? I just get nervous after losing 3k to be sold a replica even though the guy swears it's oem and he seemed legit.

My top that was stolen

New top

Are these serial number if it matters. It's by the hardtop spikes under seal

Contact the Hardtop Guy, Jeff is more or less the ultimate authority on Honda S2000 hardtops.

Sure looks OEM, but that gap has me. Can the rear catchers be adjusted some for a better fit.

That is my only solution but what bugs me is that I didn't put new catchers since whoever stole my hardtop, didn't take those. As u can see from the first pic, my hardtop fit good which I would presume would be the same wth this hardtop I have now but that's not the case. Can I adjust the spikes that are on the hardtop itself? I think that's what may be the problem. With all these knock offs lately, I get nervous with buy something non authentic and these things never came with vins. It has a lot of things pointing to oem like Honda glass, rear defroster, oem headliner and all gaskets.

When the Hardtop Guy installed my OEM hardtop, he adjusted the position of the Handle Assembly that attaches the top to the Body Side Catcher to reduce the gap. Check out page 5 of http://www.handa-accessories.com/S2000/s2k2top.pdf

Dshea, that is what I'm gonna try this week. I heard you have to remove the covers on the hardtop to get to the spikes that go into catchers. I presume those will need to be adjusted. It doesn't hurt to try. I hope it works cause that gap looks ugly.

Have you installed the latch locks? Hate to see you get this hardtop stollen also.

The panels are easy to come off, just be gentle. Once off they are easy to adjust.

I bought the hardtop locks, and trying to get in contact with kodakan for seat locks but no response yet. Yea, I have bad luck removing panels with clips. They always seem to break on me. Will post what happens this weekend when I play with it. Thanks again for replies
