How to use remote while key is in ignition
Nothing like bringing a post back from the dead - but I bought my S2000 after most of the posts on this thread. When I pick my son up from school, it is a pain to turn off the car to unlock the trunk for his backpack. So this mod is super attractive.
I have located the control module but I am having a tough time unbolting it because there are other wires in the way. BTW - this is a 10mm bolt whereas everything else on Honda seems like it is a 8mm. So I will try the "do not unbolt" method.
That said - there is a sleeve and tape covering the wires all the way up to the unit. Can I pull the wires out of the unit and if so, how? Or do I have to unwarp the whole group of wires and cut the two in question?
BTW - for all of you that said this is easy - are you short with short arms? I am very flexible but can't move my arms around underneath the dash because the space is so tight.

Anyway, for you Redneck CPA, is it too much trouble to hit the button inside the center console to pop the trunk open when the car is running? I do that all the time. Also, It's not too hard for me to reach across the car and unlock the passenger side door if needed, when the car is running. Sometimes I do wish for a door unlock switch, seems Honda made a conscience decision to delete certain basic functions in the S2000.
Wow. I've had my car 5 years and never knew this was possible. Every friggen time I'm out in the car with my wife she wants to put her purse in the trunk. We come back to the car, I start her up and then my wife remembers the purse.
I'm literally getting out of bed and going straight to the garage to cut those wires.

Sorry - been away a bit. It is that time of the year (I am a CPA as you may guess from my name)...
As many others have posted, it is not too much trouble to push the button in the center console if your console is unlocked. But I only unlock that when I need something out of it. It is locked the rest of the time. Otherwise, all the stuff in your glove box and everything in your trunk is "unlocked". I frequently have to pick up a passenger (like a kid) who has something to put in the trunk. I have to turn off the car, pull the key and hit the button. Or I have to remember before I leave to pick him up from car line to unlock the center console - and then lock it back afterwards.
Granted - these are 1st world problems. But the mod is pretty appealing for me. I am not asking you to do it on your car!
That said, does anyone have an answer to my question about how to pull these wires?

The pictures and explanation in the post #34 of this thread(God bless the guy who took his time posting it !!!) explain precisely what needs to be done. The rest of this thread is mostly irrelevant.
Now, if you're not a dwarf it is really difficult to work in that area. If you're dead set on doing it yourself I'd suggest removing the seat. Also if you don't want to cut the wires it is helpful to use a special tool to pop them out of the harness. I saw it done by experienced person and even with the tool it didn't look very easy.
So here's option 2 - print the post #34, take that and a little bit of your CPA earned $'s to the nearest car audio installer. Find the smallest guy in the shop and explain to him what you need done. It shouldn't take him more than 15-20 min.
As a result - I speak for my stock S2K 2006 - while the key is in ignition and engine is running I can use the remote to:
1. unlock the trunk
2. unlock the passenger door
3. leave the car running and lock the doors(while leaving the dog in the car and going inside of a gas station for example)
It's a super practical mod. Good luck!
