According to Mike Valentine, radar DOES detect larger items FASTER than smaller items. I either read it in my book or on his site.

Not only material being a factor but RADAR adheres to the rules similar to light, one being -- the angle of reflection equals the angle of incidence. A RADAR beam hitting you at 45 degrees will reflect away at 45 degrees. But there is enough of a RADAR cross section on the S2000 to get a good reading but the smallness and roundness of the S2000 must help in getting a good lock just possibly not at great distance. This principle is precisely why the bottom of the F-117 is completely flat. This helps it elude ground RADAR by reflectiing it away instead of back toward the missile's receiver.

True, (Ahhhhh, the good old wave duality theory!)
I thought I covered shape?

But Traffic radar and Sweeping Radar are two different systems.

Traffic radar: Speed only, by detecting the change in frequency from original source (Low tech)
Sweeping Radar: Speed, Location, Size, and number of targets (High tech)

A traffic radar gun will not function (report a reading) if the angle of incidence is greater than, if I am correct. 20-25

Actually, I read that the S is so special that the material used on the hood is similar to the Nighthawk's skin --- some sort of super-absorbent polyimide-based transparent aluminum-- so go ahead, keep on driving at 120 MPH on public roads, you'll be just fine.

Where are you driving???? You sure don't drive the same routes I do. I have had 2 tickets in 2 years. No front plate either time. Got caught with instant-on the last time. Nailed me at my top speed. Before, I had only had 2 tickets in my life. Don't get lulled into a false sense of security. You WILL get caught eventually.

I driven about 4000 miles in Plano, and about 3600 in Dallas, Houston, and West Texas. I drive really fast wherever I am, and I haven't had a ticket since '95. If I am not hung up in traffic, then I will generally be 25+ MPH over the speed limit no matter where I am. I've actually gotten up to 100 on Preston a couple times, and 115 on Spring Creek Pkwy several times.

Honestly, I know that I have just been lucky, but there have been at least 10 times that I have been zapped at night, when I was the only car in sight, by a cop hiding in the median or something, and I was able to jam on the brakes to shave off the excess speed before he got a reading.

I haven't been hit with laser yet, just K and Ka bands.

That explains a lot. I would have to agree that the S seems to dodge the other radar bands better than most cars. I too have been zapped several times with other bands without a ticket. I wouldn't count on it every time, though. Most of the municipalities around me use the laser radar on the freeway, which is where I was caught both times.

When I finish my Jedi training, I will just use the Force to avoid tickets.
