Default Hundai S2000

How would you respond if Hyundai were to take a mold of the current Honda S2000 and manufacture an identical replica of it - only in appearance but greatly lacking in actual quality and performance - as its own? Would you applaud Hyundai's effort for making an "affordable" S2000 for those who cannot it otherwise?

Please keep the discussion civilized.

I'd be like "damn it, how come my S2000 doesn't come with a 10 year warranty."

In all seriousness, i wouldn't care. I didn't buy the S2000 for its looks. And if i was Honda, i would be flattered, not mad.

Your hypothetical situation is a little different from Mugen/Seibon if thats what you were trying to get at with this thread.

First off, it's HYundai, not Hundai. And I would lose what little respect I have of them if they did. Granted all cars have queues of other cars in their designs, but to make an exact copy is the same as stealing. Any credibility the company has built amongst the consumers will be lost, and they will probably be viewed a poseur car company only good at making cheap imitations of better products.

I purposely misspelled it to avoid being sued for slandering.

Thanks for your comment.

Please let me be clear to everyone that I did not mean to insinuate any negatives on Korean companies' integrity or product quality. This is purely hypothectical.

Hahaha, only a company that starts with and H and ends with an onda would go so low as to do that..

Would you then be supporting fake rolex, burberry, and louis vitton?
If they're making an "identical" cosmetic copy without the quality (performance) then they'd be doing it solely to cash in on the existing product's success.

But hey, if they wanted to make something that looked similar or was "inspired" by the S2000, then that's their right.

Kia does this routinely:

I'd love to see Hyundai make a roadster. The GTV6 is quite a looker. There's no reason why their car couldn't have something behind it either. It will come down to performance though. Looks only go so far in the market place in this segment, or the MR2 sypder would've been the biggest hit ever.

Didn't Toyota copy the Mustang in 7/8 version when it first made the Celica?
