sometime i change from :
upshift from 1st gear directly to 3rd gear
downshift from 5th gear (directly) to 3rd gear (double clutch)

also sometime i use 2nd gear to start running from a complete stop

will the above situation hurt the engine?or other part of the car??
p.s new manual driver

It is very dangerous to jump over gears while downshifting, because the overrev protection does NOT WORK while downshifting.
(upshift is no prob)

May I ask why you upshift directly from 1st to 3rd?
I'm glad to have a six gearbox, and using ALL gears

Just asking...

Hi:
Woodwork has already said it is hard on the transmission to skip gears going up. Do a search.

it doesn't hurt the transmission to skip gears. that is the most absurd thing I have read today...

Depends when you skip gears (upshifting). You just want to make sure the revs don't fall too low.
