I'm reading the articles in the back of the Hyper Rev book, and the stuff I'm learning is continuing to amaze me about our car. For example:

- Did you know our F20C engine's roots are from the JTCC (All Japan Touring Car Championship) Accord? The modified H22A (downsized into 2L) won the 96-97 JTCC Champion in an "Overwhelming" fashion.

- Did you know our car's camshafts are hollow? Oil goes through the hollow camshaft to lubricate it.

This car is full of surprises

 

I don't think hollow cams are all that new are they? If I recall numerous performance cars have them, first that comes to mind (I think!?) is the MR2 turbo and Celica All-Trac

 

No, my point is that "Did you know OUR car had them?"

I didn't know that until I read Hyper Rev.

Yes. It also has a roller valve train, chain/gear drive cams with split spring loaded gears to eliminate backlash, forged pistons, rods and crank, nutless rod ends, a high ring minimal skirt piston design, carbon fiber ceramic/metalic cylinder liners, fully girdled main bearing carriers, die cast aluminum block and die cast and finned aluminum oil pan for extra block rigidity, valve springs and bearings derived from honda's CART engine program and VTEC on the exhaust as well as the intake side. The exhaust headers are hand built and stainless steel and the engine is so well ballanced it requires no ballance shaft system to run as smooth as it does.

I don't think I need to, Bieg pointed out that we only need to read the SAE paper

I figure it's probably more accurate to get the info from the horse's mouth. Besides, it's amusing to read the tone of language Hyper Rev uses to describe the car and components. The specifics are glorified yet remain accurate. Case and point is the description of the way the JTCC Accord, I couldn't properly translate it, and "overwhelming" was the closest word I can think of, but it's nowhere close to the kind of emotional response you would receive when reading the fashion in which the Accord won the championship.
