Hyperwhite versus plain bulbs
The reason I haven't ordered any clear diffusers is because I don't wanna open up my headlights AGAIN.. hahaa.. although they look pretty damn nice..
neway, as for the hyperwhite.. i would be against it cuz of the blue tint.. i have that for a map light in my prelude.. the damn blue tint screws with ur eyes its annoying.. makes things come out different colors.. however, since it's for the sidemarkers on the outside, and since the s2k has hids.. they look damn nice.. as long as the bulbs are painted.. for some cars.. but a lot of times.. anytime a cop sees a BLUE bulb in ur car.. instant pull over... damn so cal.

In regards to painting the bulbs, I have a friend who used Testor's model paint (not high temp.) on his A4 and it's held up fine for at least a year. The trick is to put a really, really light coat only. Almost to the point where it only looks like overspray.
I think it's Philips that makes "Silvervision" (sp?) bulbs that are silver when off and light amber. The link in the second post on this thread has some interesting looking bulbs that have the same characteristics as well. I would be really hesitant to run a turn signal bulb in any color but amber. You're really getting into a safety and legal issue that I'd rather not explore at the side of the road talking to some officer of the law.
On the other hand, the hyperwhite bulbs look great for the marker lights and as reverse lights etc. I'd stay far away from the blue looking bulbs because of the inherent association with ricer behavior and again the law will be much more interested in your existence.
Just my $0.02

Just to let everyone know, I changed the HyperWhite "blue" bulbs in Richmond. Before ever seeing any of this back and forth nonsense. In the morning, when I looked at my S2000, I saw the blue and did not like it one bit.
It looks great on some other S2000's but it just was'nt working for me.
I'll share some pics tomorrow of what it looks like now. I replaced them with OEM Clear bulbs and the bottom sidemarker is now amber.
