How about putting an empty cup/can on the other side of the divider?

I hate them too. My solution - No drinks in the car. Or have the passenger hold your drink.

I use the "cupholder" in my '05 for my garage remote (until I formally relocate that) my wallet (as I don't like sitting on it in this car), my pass for work, my pass for a local garage, my cell phone, and other small odds and ends that are more conveniently placed there than in the glove box. Works wonders. I'll drink when I get where I'm going.

That's just me.

I've got one that swivels. It moves with acceleration and deceleration and left turns. Right turns are the only ones I have to slow down for.
What the hell are you drinking out of a mason jar, moonshine?

Moonshine + S2000 = bad, bad, bad.

The mason jar was for "modelling" purposes only.
Usually, a Starbucks cup or juice bottle goes in there.

ps. It may be of interest to some that in most firehalls in our town, we use mason jars for drinks containers where cold drinks are consumed. They are cheap and plentiful and nobody misses them when they are broken.

I can't count how many times my drink has spilled from tipping over in the cupholder in my S, but today was the worst. I decided to pick up starbucks before work, and I even got a medium in a large cup so that it wouldn't spill, but as I slowed down at the first stoplight, the little divider thing in the cupholder folded down and the drink tipped forward, spilling almost half of its contents all over the radio and dash! Now all of my radio buttons are stuck together and I have sticky spots on my dash and shifter (it was a peppermint mocha, so it was kind of sugary).

Does anyone know of a quick fix so that my cupholder will actually hold a cup securely?
Funny. I got a medium Starbucks frap yesterday and knew I was going to have a problem with my cupholders. So I asked the girl for a cupholder (the one that holds 4 cups). It worked pretty well. I just put it on the passenger's seat with a my purse supporting one side/part of the bottom. I don't imagine many of you guys have purses though, ha. Very cheap but quick fix.

AP1 or AP2, the cup holder is in a stupid place. You can't put anything in it that won't hinder your shifting. At least the AP2 door slides back instead of pops up.

A cup holder on the pass. side of the transmission tunnel is perfect - out of your way when you're shifting, in arm's reach when you want to drink, plus it avoids most of the heat that the holders on top of the tunnel seem to capture so well.

It looks like the picture below (NOT my car--mine's not that tore up!) It only has one holder, but for me, it gets the job done. Plus, I like the cell phone holder right behind the cup holder.
