Default I am in need of a lower block and guidance.

Greetings all... long time lurker here, even before registering...

Not the best first post created since this is going to be more about me crying out for help instead of contributing to anything.

My 2004 AP2 motor went due to leaking oil from the rear main seal and me being careless.

I'm reaching out to see anyone here has a bare f22c block available. I really don't want to make this a Want to Buy thread, especially since I'm considered new, but I also want to absorb all the information anyone is willing to share for the situation I'm in.

I have already purchased a new oem crankshaft and bearings before tearing the motor apart and actually seeing the extent of the damage. Assuming I only need a lower block, I've read I can use a f20c lower block with a f22c crankshaft. If this is true, do I purchase AP1 rods and pistons? (with AP2 piston rings?) Would I need to tune my AP2 to AP1 if I went this route? (AP2 head with AP1 block and f22c crankshaft) Would I need anything else?

I'm considering on what to do from the options I had before coming here. I do not know any reputable local machine shops (I'm located in Flushing, NYC). Before I make a table out my block, I'm assuming it is not salvageable. Cylinder 4's wall needs a hone (from what I read about our FRM walls, mine looks to be trashed) and the girdle portion of the lower block where the spun main bearing sat has been grinded down. There is no way it can be machined to spec from this point, correct? Would Inline Pro accept my block and girdle as a core to be sleeved if I went this route?

Long story short, I need a f22c bare block with no cylinder wall damage. I would buy a complete used f22c (for a decent price) or even do a k swap, but I've already sank $ into a new oem crank, oem bearings and complete oem gasket and seal kit and tore the motor apart myself. I want to rebuild her.

On a side note, I have also purchased ARP bolts and a cometic head gasket. I plan to go FI in the future after I've rebuilt my motor. Is it recommended to wait until I go FI before installing the head gasket? Or should I stick with oem? I would also like to swap the ARP bolts into the motor while I rebuild, but I'm afraid of incorrectly torqing them down. I haven't opened the packaging yet, but I do believe someone said torqing instructions are included. Are ARP bolts an upgrade or a downgrade?

Sorry for the long post and your time is greatly appreciated!

My advice, first, sell the crank you bought and all the other parts you aquired.

Second, if planning less than around 475 whp, buy a good running used f22, don't open it, add your fi.

Or if going for more than 475 whp, k swap, add the fi.

Also, low on oil = snapped crank? Like, dang.

There was a running AP2 engine for sale (here) within the past week. On a pallet. May still be for sale.

Like others have said above....your best option is to buy a complete motor. Even with that you should buy from someone who has a good reputation. Now days people are quick to screw you. I bought a motor using PayPal and when it arrived the bearings were shot. Made a claim within a week and I got denied. 5k down the drain.

Yea... was pushing her hard that day. Like I said, I was careless. The crank snapped in an instant. Paying the price now.

This is one of the reasons I'm hesitant on buying complete. I don't want to pay for someone else's paper weight and get screwed (sorry that happened to you).

Buy a used motor on eBay from a reputable seller.

If you buy from a private party, use PayPal and don't use the "gift" option to try and save the 3% fee. Get the buyer protection. Get a statement (in writing) from the seller that its a good running engine.

Why did they deny you? Did you choose to pay as a "gift"?

If not, then the basis on which they denied you would be helpful info for other people.

Absolutely not. they do not cover used engines in the buyer protection. I was very upset when they said that because I would have never bought the engine if that was the case. I sent documents of compression numbers and took pics/videos within a week of buying it. PayPal is not like it use to be.
