Dang, good to know. Didn't know they didn't cover used engines.

Maybe buying on eBay or reputable junkyard site is the way to go then.

I used a credit card to buy mine when I bought from any JDM dismantlers.

One time, a place that advertised "all our engines have 50K miles or under" shipped me an engine which had a sticker that said the timing belt was last done at 88K miles lol. It was a total POS. Oil was all burnt and varnished all over everything. Gaskets all rock hard from the owner never changing oil, etc.

I made my case and asked them nicely (repeatedly over a week's time) to take it back. They were pushing back on me sending it back and giving me the run-around. I eventually gave them 2 options:
  1. Take the engine back and remain nameless and go our own ways.
  2. I file a credit card claim for false advertising. I get my money back. And I proceed to ruin their reputation as best as I can anyway.

So they took the engine back.

Glad it worked out for you! I dont trust the milage on those engines. It seems like every single engine they have has under 50k miles on it. lol. Next time I need an engine I will either pay the premium for a low mile engine or buy from someone who has a great rep. Its sad that so many people are not honest anymore.
