I drove them ALL!!!
Well, on the way home from work today I decided to stop by the Honda dealer and check out an MY04 S2000. They also had a used MY02 S2000, MY03 350z, and an EVO.
I was in heaven, because these are all the cars I was considering for my new automobile.
Here are my impressions: (I'll keep it short)
EVO was up first:
Fast...I mean hella fast, holy sh!t fast. But, this is going to be my daily driver and the fit and finish was horrible and had moderate understeer in tight corners.
Not for me.
350Z:
This car had miles, but was in great condition. Acceleration was not what I expected and the car really dies in the top end. (It had a tough act to follow). Mild understeer. The car had more sqeak and rattles than my wifes old Pontiac Sunfire. Nissan needs to step it up a notch. I was very disspointed. To top it off, the car had tir feathering problems because I could have sworn that I was in a lifted jeep with massive tires whil I was driving it!
I'll pass.
MY04 S2000:
Excellent fit and finish and superb handling. I autocross a 993 Cabriolet and the S2000 was the perfect fit! or was it???
MY03 S2000:
I could not VTEC the 04 because it had only 9 miles on it, so this broken in 03 was a blast to drive in comparison. WHAT A RUSH!!! The down side was that the road and wind noise were more pronounced than in the MY04. The 04 interior upgrades also make a world of difference IMHO.
So...one of the other salesmen, who is the "dealer S2000 expert" lets me drive his 04 to compare with the 03. Before I take the keys he tells me about how he owned an MY01 and that the 04 is quite different.
The Final drive:
Wow...WOw...WOW...that extra torque really makes a difference and the 800 rpms off the top were not noticable to me.
After looking at both cars parked side by side, the new styling of the 04 really sttod out for me.
SOLD!!!
MY04 Sebring Silver
Now I only have 588 more miles until I VTEC.
Thanks to all of you that answered all my crazy questions over the past year. It is great to be part of the botherhood.
By the way, Sebring was my third choice in color. Rio yellow was first, but I thought it might grow old to look at every day. Black was second, but with all of the dust here in Las Vegas it would be tough to keep clean.

Nicely done! Congratulations.
Thanks also for the mini-comparison test. I am also sold on the changes for '04. I don't have one yet, but it won't be long.
The Nissan doesn't appeal to me at all. Way too heavy and the styling is not all that attractive to my eye.
The EVO (and STi) have a certain sensible appeal because they offer tons of power, a reasonable price, and AWD with 4 doors. You can almost justify it since it's practical. But I've lived with AWD before and the marketing for AWD has overtaken the real value. I don't like the understeer and I have my doubts as to how helpful the AWD is in daily situations. Even in bad weather, I think the proper rubber is 90% of the equation. With the STi and EVO, you also have the problem of overdone exteriors and cheap feeling interiors.
You chose wisely. Keep us updated at your mileage increases.

LOL, yeah you were in teh same boat as I was earlier. Cept I opted forthe MY03. I didnt want to get the MY04 mainly because I was afraid of waiting for the changes, and not getting what I truely wanted. Expecially when I heard they were changing the color to RIO from Spa.
Also, as for the EVO, you're right.....it is scary fast!!! Hell, i get carsick just riding in my hubbies!!!
