Default I Fu%$#d up big time...

Ok, heres the scoop. About 2 months ago, I actidentally left my windows open 4-5" on each side overnight to air out a smell in my car, and wouldnt you know it, it rained overnight. Not too much water came in. I dried everything up with towels, the heater on full blast and the ac on full blast for quite some time. It appears to be no mouldy smell now and things look good. The only problem is it is as humid in there as my humidor!! When i drive for 30 mins straight, my back gets quite moist and the interior feels very humid with the windows down, even with the ac on. My question is what to do now? I cant find a humidifier small enough to fit in the car which I can run all night long. What do you guys suggest I should do to fix (outside of replacing all the carpeting and seats?). Any try not to flame me too much, I already feel bad enough as it is.

Remove the seats then the dehumidifier should fit.

Remove the seats, put them on 2 chairs each and put the dehumidifier in between.

I know this isn't convienient (sp?) but it's probably gonna be the easiest, cheapest way to get the problem taken care of.

Try leaving the windows down overnight, 4-5 inches should do.

Otherwise, time... It'll take a couple of weeks, but it'll dry out soon enough. Leave the top down during a warm sunny day may fix it as well. Unless it's cold in Toronto already.

Rain stinks and contains acid. Wash your seats with leather cleaner thoroughly in the mean time. Rinse the seats with lots of water. If your seats were soaking wet, might as well hose your seats down so you get rid of all the rain water.

Then treat them with multiple layers of leather conditioner after they dry in your house ...

Good luck!

I would say dehumidifer with the seat removed in a small room.
Or put the car in the garage with the dehumidifer for a week and see what happens.

i think the idea of putiong the seats in a small room and dehumidify them would probally be the easiest way, but i would be sure to go to a sporting goods store and get some dessecant pads, like ones you put in a gun safe and throw them on some paper plates in your car while the seats are out, that should help with any water that might be inside the car soaked into the carpet and what not.
