I like my sock I use it when the knob is too hot to touch, then remove when it cools off. You loose some feel so I dont use it normally but nice to have. It will be very useful for those that have winters. I stuff mine in the little mesh map pocket when not in use.

The feel is different. I don't know which one feels better.
However, when it's real cold, I'd rather squeeze the leather than aluminum.
I do prefer the look with aluminum though.

Rick, Flying Pig,
How did you get the headunit cover off? In the instructions, it just looks like you yank out the lid.
can i wrap a screwdriver with tape and slowly pry it off between the carpet console and the headunit plastic?
I haven't had a chance to do it yet, but will by this weekend.
thanks

The method Honda recommends is a tape-wrapped screwdriver. ReedZ and 1Randyc recommend the yank method. Take your pick.

It's hard to imagine, but yes, you yank out the FRONT (or the face) of the whole thing by pulling the lid.
Carefully look at the picture. The door and the bottom panel right underneath the door are about 1/4 inch out from the original position. That's what you want to do. As you pull the lid, you can feel the bottom clips come off(very much like when you pull the center console off) I'm not sure if pulling "gently" would work. You have to pull fairly hard.
I didn't try the screw driver tip.....I guess it could be less risky.

The console cover was already red. It's just replacing the cheap worn carpet with the smelly leather. I don't like leather, but my wife does. It's her car.
While I like the look without the knob sock, she loves the feel of the leather.
I can do without the feel and the smell.
Anyway, it actually looks much better in person. It looks too loud or red in the picture because you are not looking at the whole car.....
