Yeah man, I feel for you. I take it personal when people are just jealous of your ride.

 

This is the kind of that really makes my blood boil. This goes beyond people having a lack of respect for others and their property, to the point of people showing intentional disrespect. And for what reason? To prove a point to the owner? What point?

The vandals in most cases aren't even getting the satisfaction of witnessing the owners' anger. So they are simply getting satisfaction from knowing they damaged someone else's property?

In most cases, I don't think it's jealousy so much as it is the sense of power. I'm jealous of the 996 Turbo and the Ferrari I saw this weekend. I'm jealous and I'll admit it. But the thought never crossed my mind to purposely damage the cars just because I don't/can't have them. Rather, I think about what I can do to better my position to have such a car someday (if that's my interest).

I believe it's about power, plain and simple. While I don't have the power to prevent runaway buggies or inconsiderate people who open their door against others' cars, I do have the power to chose a place to park that should minimize the chance of my car being damaged. However, it is so easy for someone to take that power away by recognizing my intentions in parking far away and therefore parking right next to me, or purposefully denting my car, or keying my car. I believe it's the easily attainable sense of power that gets these people off.

I know I shouldn't get so upset about it (especially since it wasn't even my car). I know there is little I can do. But, I suppose my problem is that actions like this are so counterproductive and wasteful. Vandalism like this needlessly removes from the owner and from society so much value that took work to create, for a momentary sense of power, the littlest amount of instant gratification, and usually by someone that offers so little value and productivity to the world.

Sorry for my rant. Generally, I read this stuff and move on, but this time I decided to say something (probably because of my own incident this weekend that luckily resulted in no damage to my car).

I'm sorry you had to experience damage to your property. I hope you get it fixed to your liking as soon as possible.

 

When your car is parked out of sight you just have to let go, as if you just sold it.
Sorry to hear about what "someone" did to your car.

 

ya some people are just assholes to say the least. Everytime i go to walmart etc. which i try to avoid @ all costs with the s i try and park along side the cart collectors so it will block my car from any rolling carts...they do a lot of damage.

 

I would get some quick detailer (meguiars or something) and get a good quality claybar. Spray the quick detailer onto the taillight, and also the claybar and give it a couple of passes and see if that helps.

 

Yeah it sucks but part of life. A small doording from parking next to someone, okay, nothing you can do about it. A huge one where you know they laid into your door is what pisses me off.
