Welcome Chipster. Many sport bike fans here! I raced for Two Brothers Racing back in the early 1990's. Have to ask why you bought the VFR? . Maybe wanna trade up to one of those Erion Racing 929's......ergh forget I said that, they're really struggling this year on the track. But on the serious side I've had no issues with my '01 S2K. Bought it because of my experience with their bikes....they are an engine company and didn't let me down. I was looking at a 748 Duc when I came upon the Honda and used some friends influence to pick one up without waiting. While there are some issues I can't imagine what you'ld expect? It is limited production and issues will arise. I also have a 1974 DeTomaso Pantera and have been fascinated over the last three quarterly issues of Pantera International as they interviewed Bill Stroppe (the import man) and disclosed all the issues with the "Cat" back then. You are correct; we are fortunate to have this site. It allows us to share information and see failure trends perhaps before even Honda does. This site is one of the premier examples I can think of as to why the Internet will continue to grow. If you put it in perspective the failures are really pretty minimal......you might also note that most of the people complaining of issues are "new" members or those that have modified the base design. In short this is an awesome car designed by an awesome company........but you already knew that

MY 2001, I would buy it over and over and over again. This car is a thrill a minute and worth every penny. I haven't had any problems so far(knock knock) but not expecting any. I have been topping off with oil every so often.(told that is normal)

Honda s2k gives me

I have had mine for 4 months and other than a heavy right foot every time I drive it I have had no problems. This includes a race school for 2 days and 2 days worth of track time. I will however need new tires soon if I keep up the track days.
It was / is the best thing I have ever purchased.

Utah; I thought by getting the VFR I would sort of "cool out" as far as my Sun. rides go. NOT! I will admit that the new Blade, 1K GSXR, and the R1 do turn my head when I see them. The VFR is a bit heavy, but is better than most on longer rides. I really hope to see some improvments in the 02 S2K and who knows maybe have one by next spring. After all for the price, nothing comes close to the S2K....Right?

MY2000, 8400 km, daily driver, gone thru 1 winter, nothing's loose, no tranny problems, no clutch problems, no diff problems, haven't gone in for any TSB's (nothing's broke & I'm not risking it at the dealer). If anything, the car is better build quality than the bike. Had '98 VFR, just sold it. Crotch rockets are fun but my body can't take that riding position. My old geezer back can't take it no mo'. I'll get another V-Max next. The first one was great, wish I'd kept it.

MY 2001 with 2k miles now -- no mechanical problems here. I love driving this car! My only complaint would have to be the plastic rear window crease. Since I only drive it for fun and usually with the top down, I think this is a small price to pay for such a fun ride at a fair price (even though Honda dealer made me pay $1000 over MSRP).

Given the choice, I'd still buy it again. Did I mention I love driving this car? It's great to have a car that motivates you to find reasons to drive -- even if you don't have anywhere you have to go ...

I have had the car for over a year as a daily driver that I drive very hard quite often with zero, zilch, no problems what so ever! ... Well maybe one ... I need new tires ... but that's just do to me waering them out from all that hard driving

I had to buy a new car when my old one was flooded. I immediately went out and got another S2000. Now I have two (temporarily). These cars seem to have far fewer problems than the other high performance cars I am familiar with.

Hey chipster, hope you enjoyed the ride in my S2K a few weeks ago . Again, I've only had a few minor problems with mine:

- lately a hint of belt squeal, probably the tensioner making noise
- radio died, replaced under warranty
- 2 flat tires, just picked up nails or other debris in the road

For the most part, 17,500 miles of pure fun
